It's official: the highly-awaited sequel to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before will include several fan-favorite characters from the original Netflix film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors Janel Parrish, Anna Cathcart, and John Corbett will return to reprise their roles within the beloved Covey family, joining previously announced costars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo.

The upcoming sequel, based on Jenny Han’s book series, will be directed by Michael Fimognari, who worked as the director of photography on the first film, THR reports. TATB’s previous director, Susan Johnson, will serve as executive producer on the second Netflix film.

In a statement provided to THR, Johnson called TATB “one of the greatest experiences of my life,” noting that she was grateful to all of the fans for their ‘passionate support” of the now-hit movie. “Due to the timing of my other projects I won’t be directing the sequel, but as an executive producer, I am looking forward to continuing to share Lara Jean’s story and being part of this franchise.”

Rumors of a sequel were seemingly confirmed in November 2018 when Johnson hinted on social media that the second film was in the works. The news was solidified the following month in the form of a cute promotional video featuring Lana and Noah — AKA fictional couple Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky. “It's officially official," Lana said at the time, with Noah adding: “Bring on the sequel.”

Of course, one big question remains: Who will portray John Ambrose?! Fans of P.S. I Still Love You, Han’s second novel in the TATB series, will remember John as another recipient of Lara’s love letters. As drama unfolds in the book, a serious love triangle forms between Lara, John, and Peter…although when you add Genevieve into the mix, it’s more like a love rhombus. One thing is for sure — the announcement of the John Ambrose casting is sure to send the internet into a frenzy, so we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for the big news.
